September Favorites

Hello Fall,

Okay better late than never but I am here to post my September favorites. First of all let me say how much I love this season, it's like spring without the pollen and much more fashion buzzing. But let me get down to it what did I love to wear ( both on my body as well as on my skin).

1. I am in love with pigments right now: get me a brush and some loose pigments and I am ready to pat, pat, pat it right on top of my eye-shadow base with a eye-shadow brush or two. Why? because it is just so vibrant and fun to work with, plus its stays on longer, just doesn't fade as fast as eye-shadows.

2. Speaking of pigments this fall I started obsessing over a metallic smokey eye. Tone down during the day, but more dramatic during the evening. Gold, Rust, Copper, you name it and I want to rock it with some black, mainly on the outer v of the eye lid. Oh, perfect time to mention L.A. Colors from the dollar store where I purchase loose pigments in Sunshine (gold), Radiant (copper), Lollipop (pink), black pearl (black). And I am loving them!! So vibrant and fun for only $1.00 a piece.

3. Speaking of dollar store, I was loving the dollar store for cute fall decor. Like faux leaves and vases. Coffee mugs and other cute little fall decor ideas to bring fall into your home. I also love grabbing cosmetic essentials like sponges, facial scrubbers to use with your face wash and cute loofahs. So go and check out your local dollar store and stock up on things this fall. Not to mention the gorgeous Christmas decorations they sell. I cant wait to get my hands on those!!

4. Water, agua!!! As the weather gets colder, your skin get drier. So make sure to moisturize from the inside out by drinking plenty of water in the fall. Just because the hot weather is gone doesn't mean you should pack away the water bottles.

5. Finally, I want to talk about wearing the cat eye with a neutral lip. You can use a liquid eyeliner, as low as $1.00 at Target from ELF, to draw that line out a little further than usual to create the cat eye look. Go for a bolder cat eye at night or a subtle cat eye during the day. Wear it alone or with eye shadow.

Make-up fit for royalty!!!

From July 25th to the 31st I was in Chicago doing make-up at the Miss Teen International Pageant. The picture to the right is the current Miss Teen Washington DC International Lystra Edwards. To recreate this look I applied a nice variety of makeup that will last all day and night!
For the face, I used light liquid foundation ( Loreal True Match in cocoa) mixed with tinted moisturizer ( I used the drugstore brand Jane. nearly foundation in medium) to create a custom blend. Then I used a powder brush (MAC 187)to dust list powder on top to seal the foundation.
For the eyes, I used MAC Paints in Bamboo as a base to decrease creasing and allow pigments to last all day. I also added a dark eyeshadow shade on the balls of the lids and slightly lighter shade in the crease ( use a smaller belnding brush) and outer corner V, I then used my favorite brush, a clean blending brush (Princeton Select Round Blender) to blend all the colors for smooth transition. As far as the pigment I used a eyeshadow brush to applied vanilla as the highlight under the brow and black eyeliner to frame the eye and dark brown eyeliner to give the brows definition. I added lashes and Loreal Carbon Black Telescopic mascara for long flirty lashes.
For the cheeks, a applied pink blush on the cheeks and up the cheekbones with a blush brush.
For the lips we applied chestnut liner and a nice complimentary color like aquaCeuticals Lipstix in Montego Bay and clear gloss.
To set it all off don't forget to spray your face with Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Make-up Setting Spray.

Spring 2011 make-up trends

http://www.refinery29.com/2011-makeup-color-trends

This is a great article about five spring make-up trends:

!. Lip Service—Coral kissers are the rock-solid shade of the season. Dive in with a super-saturated orange, or ease in with softer coral-meets-peach shades. Either end of the spectrum is a chic way to reinvent the statement lip.

2. Get In Line—Eyeliner loosens up this spring with some rich shades of violet, adding a touch of softness to double-take-worthy eye makeup.

3. Flushed with Fuchsia—Colorful cheeks are oh-so-back, and just in time for some fresh-faced summer lovin'.

4. Super-Pigmented Pastel Pinks—What came first, Nicki Minaj or her pink lipstick? Regardless, this '60s-inspired cotton-candy reboot is a new spring obsession.

5. Out of the Shadows—These dexterous spring eyeshadow palettes display a combo of dark and colorful shades, giving you an edge on whipping up a sultry-hued smoky eye.
